Placement is part of the composition. Look at the work from where you will usually see it, and plan its relationship to furniture, neighboring pieces and the wall around it.
Plan the outline first
Measure the finished painting, including its frame. Mark the proposed outline on the wall with removable tape and check it from the usual viewing position before choosing the final placement.
Work with the room
Consider the furniture beneath the painting, adjacent doorways and the open wall around it. For a group of paintings, plan the entire arrangement together, including the gaps between pieces.
Check the wall and hardware
Use fixings suitable for the wall material and the finished weight of the work. Follow the hardware manufacturer’s instructions. If the wall structure, attachment points or load capacity are unclear, use a qualified installer before hanging.
Check the final position
Confirm that the work is secure and level, with adequate clearance from doors and moving furniture. Follow the care information supplied with your painting when choosing its location.
